"First Step: Bathroom Remodeling" is the first of a series of articles to help home owners know more about the process of remodeling a bathroom.
Bathroom is the most used area in a home. Remodeling or renovating a bathroom is the most sought after request of most homeowners. Homeowners that want to remodel their bathrooms should be aware of the process of remodeling a bathroom before hiring anyone for the job. In this article I will try to provide you, the homeowner, with the basics you need to know in order to make the remodeling your bathroom a positive experience.
One of the initial things to think about is to figure out if you are looking for a full or partial bathroom remodeling. There are many construction specialties that are involved in bathroom remodeling projects, but knowing the extent of the remodeling can help you know which construction specialties will be more suited for your project. I will provide you with the details you need to know for a full remodeling project. You can scale down based on your need. "First Step: Bathroom Remodeling" will be the first of a series of articles that will provide you with an understanding of what a bathroom remodeling project consists of.
The first thing to do is to plan your remodel on paper. Write down what you want to change in your existing bathroom and even have some ideas about what you want to replace. Then setup a budget and search for the price of the items you want to replace within your budget. You can increase the budget if you like but always have a set budget before you start looking for items of interest. Depending on your remodel some of the items you should be looking for are tubs, showers, vanities, tiles (both wall and floor tiles), lighting, plumbing fixtures, doors and anything else that you want to replace in your bathroom.
Once you have planned what you need to purchase for your bathroom remodeling project you need to know if you are moving anything around. Do you want to move the toilet to a different location in the Bathroom? Do you want to replace a shower with a tub or vice versa? Where will the new vanity go? And most importantly, are you removing any existing walls or building a new wall in your existing bathroom? This information will help you later on when you go through the next steps of your bathroom remodeling project. Read the next article, Article 02 in this series of how to plan my Bathroom Remodeling project.
