We will also provide you with enough information to equip you with the step by step knowledge of what a kitchen remodeling project consists of.
A full kitchen remodeling project is one of the biggest projects you can take on as a home owner. Kitchen remodeling is considered a major remodeling project depending on the extent of the work required. A full kitchen remodel requires many specialties depending on the full scope of the project; specialties such as plumbing, electrical, framing, HVAC, cabinetry, counter top installation, tile and/or hardwood floor installation, Painting, Windows/doors installations, foundation and even some roofing work. That is basically every specialty required to build a new house.
In order to simplify the full kitchen remodeling process, the work will be divided between the homeowner and the general contractor hired for the job. The homeowner will be responsible for purchasing all the finishing items and the contractor will be responsible for the labor and rough material.
Let us start with the homeowner's responsibility. The homeowner will be responsible to purchase items that will go into the new kitchen that are a matter of homeowner's choice and taste. Items such as doors/windows, HVAC Fans, kitchen cabinets, counter tops, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, hardwood flooring, tiles, paint and appliances, trims and handles, etc. This means that any item that the homeowner chooses for the look of the kitchen based on homeowner's taste. The General Contractor will provide the labor for all the specialties mentioned above and all rough material such as, wood used in framing, plumbing material such as pipes and drains, concrete, nails and fasteners and the tools and other equipment required to build the new kitchen. Therefore, the General contractor will be responsible to provide the type of material that is not seen on the outside and is used to complete the kitchen remodel.
Now that we are aware of the responsibilities of the homeowner and the general contractor we will move to the next part of the kitchen remodeling process in the next or second article.
